Yesterday I was reading a post about search engine optimization. I found the post interesting. As it was a multi author blog, I felt interest about the author. I found the author’s personal search engine optimization blog from his profile.
It was really a good designed blog and was full of good content. There were around 50 posts about search engine optimization adsense and traffic. But one thing that attracted me was a hit counter. It was showing that I was the 235th visitor of that blog.
Is not it interesting? Are you getting the fact, what I am telling? Ok I am making it clear.
The number of post and hit counter made two impressions in my mind. They are-
1) He has copied the content from other blogs and the blog was a new one.
2) He has written all the post himself and he is not a good blogger.
Both the impressions are negative and I found the blog useless .That means hit counter is decreasing his traffic.
So I think using hit counter is not a good idea when it does not do any good to traffic.
Actually it is just a mental fact. So I am wishing your comment what you think about it.

I think hit counters are demotivating. It changes the perception of your blog. A poor hit count may subconciously affect how you see a blog eventhought the content may be great.
